    Default Grammys Scraps

About 5 years ago, I was helping my then 90 year old mother clean out her closet because she and my sister were moving. (Helping meant I did the work while she supervised!)

In the closet was a bag of scraps. She didn't sew any more, so I asked if I could have them. I got her usual shrug in reply, which meant "yes".

The quilt in the picture is made from her long scraps. I put them together to practice sewing straight. Then I took them apart because my straight sewing wasn't, and put them together again. It looked much nicer than I thought it would, probably because she used fabrics in the same color family and shades for so much of her work.

Finally quilted it. The backing and the binding were not in her scraps.

How wonderful the finished project is. Just think of the memories sewn into that quilt. All of the projects your Mom did gathered in that one quilt.
