Default Two Very Different Blocks

I've been planning out a large and long-term project for a little while now. A friend and I collaborate on a creative work that encompasses a large number of characters. Nothing that will ever be published - it's just for fun between the two of us. The characters are very special to us, however, and very unique. And there really are a lot of them!

I went through the other day and found a 12" block to correspond in some way with almost all of them. (No mean feat, as there are well over 100.) Slowly, I hope to make one here and one there as I find inspiration and fabric.

Here are the first two!

Rodney fit the Brasstown Star pattern. The character is a police officer and I found the badge fabric yesterday at Hobby Lobby. I had the grays in my stash. The character's main color scheme tends to be a dull blue and grays, so it was very appropriate for him.

Donovan fit the Crow's Foot pattern as soon as I saw the name - his character is often very closely associated with a crow, and his colors are always black and lime green. He's a more old-time Steampunk engineer/mechanic character, so the green gears were perfect! I found them in California this summer when I went out to visit a friend.

I'm definitely a novice quilter, so not all of the points are picture perfect and there's definitely a wave in the center of the star. But all in all, most of the points are pretty close and they came out how I wanted them to! I'm pleased. I've never done a sampler before.

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! I envy people like you and your friend who are so creative and talented. I hope you put your characters in a story book series one day.

For a novice, you must have a natural talent. Your points are right on and I see 1/4 inch all around the edges, something I try to achieve but I don't always get it right. So, well done, and it sounds like a really fun project. Keep us posted as you progress.
