I fell in love with the looks of bargello patterns, but found it more difficult using the traditional way of unpicking the seams. I fussed with my first one, and ended up devising a way that it made sense to me - just one extra step, but also taking one away in the process - so I guess it worked, lol. Anyway, here are a few of the first ones I have made , using all the same sized strips. I am venturing out to doing them now with the varied sized ones that most bargello's say to cut.. one inch strips sound SO daunting.. hope it is easy..

made this for a friend in Calif, and she took the photo on her camera, and titled it because she loved the quilt.. that was my first one ever!

i got all messed up with the unpicking seams where they said.. I couldnt figure out which one to do, so I just laid out all my strips, decided which I wanted first, then unpicked where i knew it would be in the right spot for each row.. I know it probably wasn't as hard as the instructions said to some quilters, but for me, it just didn't make sense.. I love scrappy quilts, so when I have fabric to use ( not always having that, since I can't purchase any right now ), my stand by for quilt pattern is the bargello.. just so fun, and never looks bad , no matter how ugly the fabric, or cut up clothes I use.

It is so much fun! even the ugliest of fabric ( if there was such a thing ) makes a beautiful bargello, lol..
