Oh, how I envy your chick and hens pot. A friend gave me a piece f her's and I noticed this morning I have two new shoots and am so excited. She promised me I couldn't kill them but wasn't willing to make her a bet. I kill everything green. My little plant looks so puny in the 6" pot but I talk very nicely to it every day hoping it will put out more new growth. Wonder how many years I have to keep it alive to get a pot like yours. You plant is gorgeous (as well as everything on your property.)

Thank you cbuchanan! I put all those in that pot last year. So that's what I got this year. They are really looking good. Every year I have to redo my big pots. They are so full of hens and chickens.
Those shutes you see coming out will have the little hens on them. Actually yours should fill the pot up and then some this year. I still have two big pots to thin out. Some of the ones I've repotted have grown so much. The hens will get really big if you keep taking the babies away when they get big enough. But I would wait until yours gets good and established.
All I do is pull the babies off and just stick them in dirt. They grow on their own.
The crab apple trees are showing themselves off now. The dogwoods are out in full bloom. And my wisteria is coming out super quick. I took a few pics this morning. But I wait until I get enough to download before I put them on.
I have green hens and chickens. A reddish green kind. And I ordered the red hens and chickens. I have three of those potted in pots. Now I hope they will grow for me.

That gives me great encouragement. Thanks for the tip regarding removing/repotting the chicks. Didn't know that. Just hope by next year my pot could come close to looking like yours. In general, I have a black thumb and very obviously, you have 10 green fingers. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Your place must be just beautiful.

You are so welcome. Never give up. Keep right on trying. I want to take one of the big black pots like shrubs come in. Cut out holes in different spots around it. Then plant impatients in the holes and top. If you get the holes in the right places and enough of them, you will have a big mound of impatients. I have a few new pics to post.

Pics I took Sat.

lilacs with more blooms and what an aroma in the yard!

Big flower garden really filling up quick.

Lily of the Valley blooming out more. Look at all the baby crabapple trees. We checked and big ones were $38.00 each. We are going to pot up a lot more.

Looks like it snowed. The blooms off the crabapple trees. And there's still gobs of blooms left on them.

See the azeala bush on the left. It's coming out. The blooms are like a whiteish pink. Wait until you see it blooming.

Wisteria coming out even more. I took other pics, but you can't see them too good. They don't take well in the sky light. I'll get better pics soon.

Thank you cbuchanan!!! But gotta show my pics. Are you ready to go back to my Hummer Garden Haven!!!! I'll get new pics this week.

A birthday gift from my brother and sister in law in NC. Yellow rhodadendrun.

Yellow columbine I just bought.

Another new addition. White columbine.

White bleeding heart.

Look at my wisteria now. I need to take new pics this week. It's changed even more.

Look how many strands of blooms that are here in this one spot. They are not completely bloomed out here either.

This is my favorite hosta because of the bright color.

Variegated leaf columbine. It may be blooming since I took this picture.

I took some pics yesterday of the big flower garden in the front of the house. Just wait until you see how much it's grown. If I don't soon get in there, I'm going to have pretty weeds blooming too!!!
I have to go get some garden soil so I can pot up some plants I need to dig out of there.

Update on flowers blooming! I always thought about doing applique patterns from pictures of my flowers. Should really do that. I think I have enough to do a whole book.

I did a close up shot to show you all the baby crabapple trees. They are everywhere.

My first iris blooming this year.

Look at all the blooms on this columbine now. I'm hopeing some of the babies around in the garden are this color.

I really need to downsize my hosta. They are getting too big and taking over a lot of my other flowers. Like the fern behind.

My bleeding heart around back at the pool deck. My kids are 34 and 32 now. I bought this when they were in high school.

Look at all the baby Mexican Fire Bushes!!! I have to pot some up. And put some in my planters. I missed potting a butterfly bush. They come up everywhere too! This planter is going to be redone.

Close up of Mexican Fire Bushes.

Getting ready to bloom.

There are two different kinds of seeds coming up in this pot. I will have to repot them. I'm not positive what they are. I'll know when they get bigger.

Azaela Bush. The blooms are pink and white. This one came from NC years ago.

I need to get a last photo before the blooms start falling off. It's even fuller now.

I love planting these, dianthus. They come back every year.

These little ants are doing their work. I learned this the hard way. Did you know the ants have to work the peonie bloom pods in order for them to bloom. I sprayed mine one time to get rid of the ants. Needless to say, I didn't have a bloom one that year.

I'm seeing color now. These smell so good when they bloom.

See the little tiny blue flowers. I told you I was going to have weeds blooming. It turned cold again here.

My elephant garlic patch. I got a chestnut tree started on the left. I find good uses for the old tires.

green onions

Wild Geranium. I got this out of the woods. I need to get some more.

Like my pots! They used these to potty in years ago. And then taken to the house of the mornings. I love finding unusual things to pot in. These are all babies that are coming up.

Hens and chickens in an old mop bucket. They need to downsized and repotted.

My Japanese Maple. It was a lot bigger. And two winters ago the snow broke it all up. I'm surprised it even looks like this now.

One rhodadendrun starting to bloom out. There are a lot more blooms opening now.

These are on both sides of the driveway at the gate, My tires need painted.

I took pics of the different types and colors of my hosta. I see a hollyhock that needs to be moved.
