Your construction of the block looks great. Good job. As someone else posted I think the problem is that the scale of the prints is too similar. I think if you play around with the fabrics you'll find that you'll be pleased with the results.

BTW, I have many orphan blocks that were tryout blocks that didn't make the cut or turn out with the overall feel that I wanted from it. That's why it is very important to make a sample block first before cutting all the blocks out for an entire quilt. So, you're on the right track! Try, try again.

Don't forget to show us your next attempt. And don't you dare drop out. This is what these swaps are all about and why we are ALL here on this forum. Encouragement, comraderie and learning from each other.

I would use a solid black for the background. You can do some bonding with you daughter. It's fun to learn something about your kids you didn't know! Continue to show your blocks. Keep with it!!!!!

What a fabulous idea!

They're gorgeous fabrics, I really like them. Please don't give up, everyone has a wee hidden stash of blocks that range from "something not quite right" to just plain ugly! ;-)

I like the suggestion above of black points (the half triangles) and the white in the middle.

That's the beauty of EQ, you can scan your fabrics in and preview the block without sewing a stitch. :-)

The only way we learn is by trial and error. so don't give up! I have a whole basket of blocks that didn't work, just donated 14 of them to another place on this board. So keep trying until you get the look you want!

Don't give up - I think that block goes together quite quickly, so just crank out a couple more and see what works. - Make hot pads out of the ones you don't think you like.

She's right, tslowery...just made a block...long story short, wasn't happy, started re-doing, got inot "zone", yesterday, and so far, new one, looks mah-vel-ous. Don't back out, please.
