Finally finished this top at 1 o'clock this morning!

This scrappy log cabin is for my husband- poor guy, originally it was supposed to be a 30th birthday present... then a 5 year anniversary present... then a 10 year anniversary present... maybe now it will actually be done for our 12th!?

Though I started it about 10 years ago (give or a take a year!), I actually cranked out 90% of this in the last 2 and a half weeks.

Now I'm looking for ideas for quilting design. I've had some ideas- I know I don't want straight lines, definitely want curvy quilting of some sort- but nothing that I can settle on. Would be thankful for some suggestions! : )

(Don't worry, there was a blanket underneath that I folded out of sight! ; )

This quilt evolved quite a bit from my original plan. The latest changes were that it lost the top border and a log cabin block in each corner, and got 4-poster cut-outs at the foot (no, we don't have a four-poster, but my husband liked the look of it and, hey, it's his quilt! ; )

wow, its beautiful. your use of color was awesome. i can't offer an opinion on quilting because i'm still very much a beginner when it comes to actually quilting it together. but, i couldn't resist letting you know that i think its a lovely quilt.

I second the kudos on the border, especially the cutouts. Also the subtle use of a few orange strips in the blocks and the narrow red inner border.

Thank you, everyone! I have to say, I really love this quilt (which is a good feeling!). I have to give credit to my husband for the cut-outs, it was his idea and I was happy to go along with it (especially since it saved me some work! ; ).
