Last night at church I was asked to make a small quilt out of these baby clothes. Our preacher and his wife adopted a baby boy last year and I made them a quilt as a shower gift. She doesn't know anyone else who quilts and said she hates not being able to do something with these. These were apparently gifts from people special to them (both preacher and wife are sports nuts). So she asked if I could do something with them. I told her that I had never worked with this material before but I could try. I have no time limit and she will buy whatever I need or reimburse me. I know I need interfacing right? Then just treat it like any other quilt? Is there a step by step pattern or tutorial anywhere online? Thanks!

Yes, you need to back with a lightweight interfacing. A long time ago, I saw a quilt done with baby clothes that had been cut open at the side seams, and the entire front was appliqued to a background. It was adorable!!

Here is search on the board. This would be a good place to start. Also do a search for T shirt quilts.

okay how would you quilt this? Quilt in the baby clothes? Seems like it would be too large of a space not to quilt in.

Be sure to iron the interfacing stretch the opposite of the stretch of the t-shirt knit.
