I'm so sorry for your loss - but what a testament to love your grandparents were and are. She will love the quilt, but please print out what you wrote and give it to your grandmother when you give her the quilt - and point out the label was made from his shirt. Both will give her a lot of comfort and something to wrap up in when she needs a hug.

She is just going to absolutely love it. I was blessed to know all my grandparents on both sides, even though my grandfathers died when I was about 10-11, my grandmothers taught me a lot.

On my way to her house now. Nervous, excited and sad. I'm giving her the quilt in a pillow case in a box. I'm also picking up the rest of granddaddy's shirts and denim jeans today. Will be doing a quilt for my dad out of his clothes. I'm sad more today than happy, but it will be ok. I will probably cry when she opens it. I will take lots of pictures and post later. Quilt hugs to all of you amazing ladies today!!! Enjoy your Mother's Day with the ones you love!!

The quilt is lovely, and how lucky you are to have had such wonderful grandparents in your life.

It's a beautiful quilt and I'm sure your grandmother will cherish it. I like the quilting stitch you used too.

Yosemitesa, what a wonderful quilt and thanks for sharing the 'behind the quilt' story. Sorry about your grandfather but I know he will be looking down in pride when you give the quilt to your grandmother. Like someone else said, give her a copy of all that you have told us.

Love the bird fabric for backing!
