This is a photo of a framed quilt block I have on my sewing room wall. It is from the 19th century, pieced by my great-grandmother by hand. Only the center shows due to matting and frame - it's actually about 12 X 12 inches, edged in off-white (I believe) muslin.

How nice of you to frame it and hang it on the wall. It must make you smile and think about your grandmother and the tradition of quilting that she passed on down to you. :D

That is wonderful. What a great treasure you have. I only met my Grandmother once. She lived in Nebraska and I lived in California. I have a vague memory of her.

You on the other hand have something to remind you of her.

I agree with Craftybear. If you have a picture of her it would be nice to put it with the square on in a seperate frame next to it.

Very nice! I have a quilt from my DGGM and I'm so thankful that I do because she just passed away last Fri. morning. She would have been 100 yrs. young this May 30th. I'll treasure this quilt always!

I am sorry for your loss, but what a remarkable long life! And glad you have the quilt to remember her by.
