OMGosh! I didn't "get" that math back in high school and certainly can't wrap my teeny tiny brain around it now!

I didn't 'get' it until I started quilting seriously! If it's a shape on paper, bleuwch! If it's cut out of fabric, it makes perfect sense! It's like those formulae from school - gobbledegook! But the formulae to work out cutting measurements for HST or setting triangles for on point blocks? A thing of beauty! :-D

Well crap...I can't believe y'all got me thinking about the Octo one  I really need a purple and orange quilt for one of my brothers.

I have moved around my hexs and I am really liking the layout that I'm getting :). This top will be done in a couple of days!

Now, what sucks is that I JUST sold a kaleido ruler on here about 2 weeks ago  .Thinking I would NEVER have a use for it again.....

I'm working on a kaleido quilt right now but it is not really cut to be a kaleidoscope as much as it was for the circles and stars that emerge. I used my accuquilt cutter for it, but that would be harder for this...probably down right impossible...lol. Guess I'll have to use the template if I do this one.

I finished a ton of UFO's for Christmas so this actually feels really good to get several projects started all at once again...

I will let you know if I find it at our Wal-mart here. And I'll post pictures of my progress on the one I'm finishing up, plus the original fabric. I finally found the piece that I had left. It really wasn't a good choice. Says right in the book to NOT use big floral...duh, but it is an Asian print and I fell in love with the vibrant colors.

Anyway, thanks for letting me hang around. Y'all are infectious!!! (your enthusiasm :) )

You can use a big floral, but if it has a lot of empty background space it would be better to cut your strips bigger, thus making bigger hexs.

Here is my original fabric. The problem with my big floral is that when you have 6" flowers on the original fabric, when you do the hexs guess what you end up with? 6" flowers...lol. i know they are still different, but I don't think I get as dramatic as an effect.

Also, my progress so far on this OBW. I have most of the left side done in small sets. The right is still pinned in hex's. I think I'm done swapping and am pretty satisfied with the layout. I believe I'm going to put a skinny creme border to bring out that tiny bit of creme in the upper left corner. On the bottom slightly left of center, those gold henscratches...there is coordinating fabric with just that. It's going to be my binding. Not really sure about anything else.

And LOOK what I found at Wally World :)

Oooh, Julie, I think your OBW looks GREAT!! That is obviously a great fabric for OBW's, and it's looking good. I know THE OBW QUEEN will agree!
