I laughed and said, "My job isn't to critique your work it is to try and help make it more pretty". I hope she feels I achieved that.
You achieved your goal beautifully!

You did an amazing job on this quilt. Your quilting made the whole thing! How long did it take you to quilt it?

Now the quilt is done. A hand pieced quilt definitely had some challenges. The client wanted me to re-inforce the seams with quilting so I had to come up with a motif that went through the center of each hexi formed by the kite shaped units. She felt that was where it needed the most reinforcement. She also wanted SITD to help reinforce as well. At first we weren't going to quilt the blue "sashing" diamonds but they were so wavy I had to quilt them pretty heavily to work in all the fullness so I chose pebbling.

Here is the quilt before quilting:

After quilting and some close ups of blocks and border feathers

And some back shots. I love how the back came out. The quilt is reversable because the back looks like a wholecloth

This is just WONDERFUL....Your quilting is just so beautiful - and it sets off the quilt top to boot!!

I don't keep careful track of time because I charge by the s/i. I am bad about that and should keep better track. I think there is about 36 to 40 hours of work in it. I put it on the rack the beginning of the month and probably worked on it 8 hours each weekend give or take and about an hour or so premarking the border with a center registration line and the feather's spine.

Beautiful!! The hand quilting makes it really exquisite. What a keepsake!!
I would never have the patience or time to hand quilt it. Off to the machine quilters it would go for me!!

Your client should be thrilled. Your quilting really compliments the pattern and takes the quilt to the next level. I wish I had just a little bit of your talent. Thanks for the inspiration!

Awesome quilting!!! Love your work. I fmq on my dm and call each quilt I make a "practice" piece for my fmq! ha! Notice you changed bobbin thread color a couple of times. I have been too lazy to do that. I've always left the white thread on the bottom, and it hasn't seemed to matter. Makes for an interesting look on the back, though. Thank's for sharing the finished project photos with us.
