Default Hearty Blend from Coffee Time Quilts

The pattern is called Hearty Blend from the quilting book Coffee Time Quilts. While at my quilt quild in January I decided to pick up a few books at random and just go for it - no excessive thinking over which pattern I should use. I just took one book home and voila.

One of my co workers and dear friend is going to be retiring in the spring/summer and I made it for her in mind. Her favourite quilts are log cabins but she already has one she cherishes so I figured she would like something else. She doesn't have a favourite colour so Im hoping she will like red.

I picked this pattern to challenge me - it had a lot of piecing (720 in all the blocks) and I had to really pay attention to lining everything up properly. Im happy to say that all the blocks are PERFECT, or as close to perfect as I get lol. However once I started to piece the blocks together things started to get crooked...and then more and more crooked. Oh well, she wont mind Its hard not being able to give it to her NOW lol. I gotta wait until she retires!

I saw someone here recently post their quilt with a block on the back of the quilt and tried out the method. I love the back and will def do it again in future quilts!

If you hadn't mentioned that there were "off" spots, I would never have noticed. Since you did mention them, I finally found them, but it took a lot of looking!! You are too critical of your own work, this is a beautiful and very complicated looking quilt. Your friend will be delighted.
