I'm trying to use some 6 inch squares that I have save from all my other projects in the pass. When I am done with a project, I would cut the scraps into 6 inch squares and save them.
I have lots of them and want to use them up.

I am trying to make a scarppy X's & O's quilt. This is my first try... I really don't know what I am doing & how the squares should be placed or if I should leave out the lighter ones.
I laid the squares down as they came off the pile not really choosing colors. I didn't know if I like how it looked , is this how a scarppy quilts looks?

I still have more to sew but if this is the way it will look maybe I'll just put all of them back in the box and forget about a scarppy quilt... LOL...Do you think it will look better after it is all sewed together and quilted?

Anyway this is what it looks like so far...
What do you think??? Thanks for your help...

I think you are doing great. Have you tried to lay it out where each 4 blocks make an x and the next 4 make an O instead of overlapping them. I am really a visual person so i am not sure if this would work even...just an idea....even though as is looks really beautiful and coordinated. Love it

I would replace the very light squares. I like the random nature, but think it would improve the overall design if the contrast was stronger. But that's just my opinion. Keep going - it will be great!

If you take the white out and go with darker fabric it might blend too much then you loose your x and o effect. A very light cream is as dark as I would go if you aren't happy with the white, otherwise I think it looks fine the way it is.
