What a fine looking tuxedo cat. The tuxedos will always hold a special place in my heart. My most awesome cat ever was a tuxedo.

Regarding cats in the sewing room. I had a cat once that actually took the thread from my sewing machine, carried it down the stairs, around the coffee table, behind the couch, around another chair in the living room and into the kitchen, all without breaking the thread or removing the spool from the machine. I have heard horror stories of cats ingesting thread. That was the day all cats were banished from the sewing room. Prior to that I had some very close calls involving the iron. I would never forgive myself if something happened to one of my furkids because I did not keep them away from dangerous sewing implements. As much as I missed their company at first, I am used to no cats in the sewing room now. Although now it is a huge game on who can manage to sneak into the fantastic, stupendous, mysterious, forbidden room.

Kitties just love the warmth of the machines and irons when they are on however, they do not understand the danger. We had a cat on the farm that was attracted to the warmth of the woodstove. It was warm near the floor but he thought it would be warmer up top. Yes, kitty jumped onto the cook surface of the old Kalamazoo and singed the pads of his paws. Poor kitty...

And if a Siamese doesn't make you stop, nothing will.

I always feel obligated as a veterinarian to warn people about the dangers of cats and thread. They have a tendency to eat the stuff and end up needing very extensive surgery to have it removed. Hence, my sewing room is completely off limits to the cats. Just a reminder from someone who has seen the heartbreak this can sometimes lead to...

I have numerous inspectors with me every time I quilt. Luckily I can say none of them have been injuried on the job. If they had I know they would file a workmans comp form. :-D :-D
