Default Hopi Indian Themed Quilt

I did this quilt for a friend of my daughters who did her Masters thesis on the Hopi. It is a little different than most I see - thought you might enjoy it. I found the pattern in a library book published in the early 90's. It is all straight line quilting with neutral thread except on the black area. On that I used green thread as suggested in the book based on traditional colors the Hopi use in their blankets and basketry. The back is just cuz I thought it was fun - instead of plain white or cream. The colors in the quilt are cream and black with the center of the black diamonds white and red. The pattern called for a knife edge binding but I prefer a pieced double fold so i did the binding in black with a little pop of red on each of the four sides -

What a great quilt. If your daughter's friend doesn't absolutely love it then there is no hope for humanity. LOL. Seriously it is an awesome quilt. The one underneath it has definitely piqued my interest as well.
