Snoze2978 - yes I am using templates. I looked at several and decided to purchase the Double Wedding Ring templates from Sharlene Jorgenson (Quilting from the Heartland). She has videos on YouTube walking through every step and I have watched each one a few times. I expect I will watch them another time or two before I am finished

I have always wanted to make one, but I am intimidated too! Can't wait to see your finished quilt!

What a great feeling you must have for conquering your first block. Breathe easy and stay on track and you will have a marvelous wedding gift!

A very, very nice beginning. This is also one of the quilts on my Roundtoit List. I used to have Shar Jorgensen's plastic templates for her book on wedding ring quilts, however, someone in my family decided to clean my sewing room and threw them out. I was really upset, but then unfortunately, my DH and therefore my DS and DD have the opinion that it just takes up space and if I haven't used it in the last couple of months it should be tossed out. I still haven't forgiven him for that and I just might order new ones, which will probably cost double what I paid for them originally years ago. I feel a bit like Rodney Dangerfield when he says "I get no respect.". Family, you can choose your friends, but not your family is so true in my house.
