Smile I finally bought a sewing machine!

Thanks for all who helped me in the decision process! In the end, I went for the Juki HZL-180SZ. It seems quite sturdy at first impression. I remember having used someone else's cheap machine, and for me it just had too much of a plastic feel - remember, I'm a Bernina record 830 girl (my mom's machine), that's all metal!

To try it out, I took a piece of fabric and hemmed it for a table cloth for my sewing table. So far, it's doing really well! Now I only have to wait for the accessories to arrive (instead of the promised 32 pressure feet I only got half of them - with some of the essentials like the FMQ foot missing... But the vendor promised me the right box), and then I can start a new project!

Here's a picture of my new baby:

Congratulations on your new machine. I've always said if I was purchasing I would look at the Juki first. I have a 2010 but not your model. Enjoy.

That's a pretty machine. I've always heard that Jukis are great machines. Hope you enjoy years of quilting on it.

Yay on your new baby!!! I still have my first machine. I got it when I was 13, and now am pushing 50, so it's been around the block....and it is all metal, too. Nothing like them!

Nice extension table on that machine and nice sewing table! There's no clutter anywhere, I'm so jealous of your space!! You're going to have so much fun, my first sewing machine is about worn out and I'm sad, we went thru lots of great fabric together.

And she is pink! How cute she is. I hope she will do a great job for you for many years to come.

Enjoy your new machine - lucky machine she already has matching clothes (table cloth). Gave me a chuckle as I had never considered the possibility of matching my sewing area to my machine. Pretty clever!
