I could have made it myself, given the time and space, but a friend in nearby Lima, NY painted it for me. He does them as a hobby -- claims that he doesn't want it to become a business.

It is lovely! And the colors harmonize so beautifully with the barn (and the flowers, and your pretty arbor).

Curious as to what your friend painted it on..plywood or something else? Is it sealed for the weather or does the paint do that? I'd enjoy making my own, but don't know even the basics of such a thing. Yours is certainly beautiful and just sets off the beautiful yard.

Love it! Mine is hanging over the garage door! Lots of comments. People will say "Are you a quilter?" So people do know what they are. I made mine on a piece of wood that is 3/4" thick - 12x12. I spray painted the background, found me a pattern and got out the handy-dandy ruler and made the design. I made Bear Tracks for my sister and it turned out really nice. I want to make Card Trick for Mom and then the neighbor is going to get one that refers to our neighborhood (which just happens to be the best darn neighborhood in these whole United States of America!!!!! Kinda partial, I am!!!!!

They are fun to paint. I use a lot of painter's tape to cover the pattern as I do it. Then I use Polyurethane paint - three coats - to protect it from the elements - I have had mine hanging over the garage door for about three years now, got knocked down in a windstorm, but the Minnesota weather has not harmed it at all. I use Delta Ceramcoat - acrylic paint - works like a charm. Have fun!!!!! Edie
