This week I've been working on moving some stuff around in the house and opening up an area to call my own. My house has got a really open layout and the living room, kitchen, dining room and extra room are all in one room (only four walls). The front door has two half walls, one on each side of the door creating an entry way, and thus creating two separate areas on each side of the half walls. One area is the dining room, the other WAS my kids play area. I decided this week that they've accumulated too many toys and I was ready to move them to their rooms. They have big, beautiful rooms with nothing but a bed and dresser in them. So we moved all that stuff out and I moved my sewing stuff in. I'm a terrible mommy, I know. :)

This is my new space, looking from the dining room over the half walls. To the right of the picture is all open and is the living room. I still have all my fabric in bins and probably won't put it out on shelves right now. I can just see my kids going through it and having it all over the house. :P

I love those windows (there's one in the dining room too), I just can't enjoy having them open this spring. My 18 month old learned he can push the screen off and out he goes! Yikes!

I love your sewing area! Everything is so nice and open.

My house is getting way too cluttered.

I see you found a cabinet for your 201!

As for the screens, you may have to do what my husband did after my cat pushed our brand new screens out and was lost for over a week while I was in the hospital. He put screws into the frames to hold them in place.

 :)

My 201 is actually sitting on the book shelf because it has not yet found a cabinet. The one in the cabinet is a 127 (I'm pretty sure that's what it is anyways, it has the Sphinx decals and the bobbin winder up high). I picked it up at a flea market today. I'm undecided as to whether or not I want to put in the work to clean it up and get it back to good working order. It works, just not well enough to sew at the moment. I really want a treadle but may just go ahead and resell this one and find one already in good working order. We'll see.

Good idea on the screens! Now if I can just get my husband out to do it. :)
