It is the most difficult time for me in cutting out the body part of the doll, sewing it and stuffing it. The rest of it comes easy. I don't know why that is. That is why, I think, I am trying to get several bodies sewn and stuffed, so the fun part is more prolonged or all at once. With 7 doll bodys cut and sewn, I now have the stuffing to do, then 14 dresses to make (2 per doll) . I do look forward to how the next doll will look. I never know till I get going on the dress what it will end up like. One thought at a time is all my mind will hold. giggling.

I too have learned in making my own simple patterns, and now adapting them in size now from the original. I too believe as you said that love can be stretched across the world, and don't think, as a bottom line, that what you said is at all corny. (Smiling atcha) I love that you said that, and that you are enjoying seeing the dolls. In my mind, I wish I had more arms and legs to work faster, so more dolls could go out, but will do the best i can. In a couple days perhaps, maybe I will get impatient and make a couple dolls up sooner, once they are stuffed, and get them posted. Thanks for your reply.

I can't begin to imagine, even as a retired nurse, what these children are having to endure. I do know that, or at least hope it holds true, that little girls still like to cuddle and hold their dolls, and feel a type of kinship in having their very own dolls. It is my hope that despite their ordeal, and in the lonliness and confusion of what is going on with them when they get cancer, that they can do that with the doll and find comfort.

I hope that makes some kind of sense. It is such a small thing for me to do, in the face of it all, and I am glad I began to do these dolls and the chemo caps. I would not be able to do as many on my own without the loveing help given to me these past few weeks by woman all over the US in their packages of fabric and trims. I will continue to make dolls as long as the supply lasts. It sure isn't just me doing this. Everyone who prays for these little ones, who writes me with encouragement here, and who does their best to help their fellowman, has a part in promoting love, and that leads back to what is in each doll.

gosh, I got longwinded here. I suppose I have developed a passion about the dolls for the kids as well as the caps.

Thanks. Just ten minutes ago, I finished a boy doll, he is 24 and 1/2 inches high. One side of him smiles and one sleeps. I have posted him here for the you and the others to see, along with the 2 girls posted earlier, that hubby wanted me to show 'together', so he took the pictures. The girls are 21 inches high.

The boy was made wearing a sweater I 'cut down to size' for him and a cap, that I bought for $10 and wore 20 years. It was purchased from Montgomery Wards in Grants Pass.

The blue jeans were cast offs of my hubby and also 'cut to size'. ggl. I hope to get two dresses done this afternoon and evening, for the two in one or flip dolls. That way, there will be 3 girls and a boy for some child with cancer. I hope you all enjoy the pictures.

Thanks. I am glad you liked him. I am trying hard to get two dresses finished now, and think it will happen, so one more doll (or 4 dolls total) will make it over to ACS mid morning tomorrow. After that I will try to get one or two dolls a week done, when I can, so I don't overtire the process, and have to stop awhile. I don't want that to happen. At 12 hours start to finish to delivery, it is difficult to get to sew a lot of dolls in a week on ones own. I'll give it my best shot. The upcoming doll is red polka dot skirt and gingham top with trims... and ruffle for the skirt. White nightgown will be pretty as well.

Back to the sewing machine. If I can get the doll #15 done, I'll post a picture for all that come here.

Wow Vickie you are a busy bee. I have been working on Project Linus quilts for the last week and today I got a bit burned out. So I think tomorrow I am gonna take a break. So far I have 3 complete and 1 waiting for batting that I have to get more tomorrow. But when you know what they are for it helps to push on with it. I am so glad you are able to do these and can't wait to see the pictures of the little ones once they are born. Hehehe. I have another box ready to send to you in the mail either tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest. Had as much fun putting this one together for you as I did the first one. I will let you know for sure when it is in the mail so you can watch for it. Keep up the great work. :-)

Try and check back in an hour or so for a new doll posting. I think this red dress for the girl doll is going to turn out really pretty. I'm going now to attach the waist of the top to the skirt, then do the bonnet. After that the nightgown, which is already cut out and ready for sewing. I have been having fun with this red dress..
