Thanks. I am so thrilled because folks have sent me so much to work with to make each doll as pretty as I can figure out to do, but it is tiring, and as you say, I need to stand away from it for a brief time and do something different for a time. Thanks for understanding and replying.

I'll be back.

Thanks. I tend to try and overdo the amount of what is needed, and so I will indeed force myself to other things, before coming back in a week or two and taking up the dolls again. I push myself harder then I should when I get on a project.

I surely love having all that which I have been given, so I can make the dolls as pretty as possible for these kids. I so much want each and every one to be very special to the child that welcomes them into their life.

Thanks for the support.

Hugs to you and yours.

Alex is a 13 month old boy that was diagnosed with a very rare condition called Infantile Spasms when he was just 6 months old..
Infantile Spasms (IS) is also known as West Syndrome and is a type of epilepsy where the seizures/spasms come in clusters. The clusters make the child look as if they are rolling themselves into a ball typically followed by a cry of some sort and can cause brain damage if not diagnosed and/or treated.
There are a few different causes for IS most being some sort of genetic disorder or trauma to the brain such as lack of oxygen during pregnancy and/or delivery.
Unfortunately Alex's doctors have been unable to find out what is causing his IS.
Though they are still trying to find a cause so they can find the right treatment, right now Alex is currently on medication to control his spasms but the spasms have still caused some developmental delays for Alex..
Alex is only at a 6-7 month level developmentally in his gross & fine motor skills.. But his doctors believe that with continued Physical and Occupational Therapy he will eventually catch up in his development..

He is so cute and I know you feel so good to know you put that smile on his face. It is so sad to see kids with illness, but know that you have helped the children and their parents in ways you will never know.

That is the goal...to somehow help the children. That is what I seek to always and only do.

Thanks for the reply.

Hugs to you and yours. God Bless.

The link below will tell you a story of a town in Alaska. A little girl named Natalie lives there. Her friends and family call her ANGEL GIRL. I was honored to be asked by one of her adult friends to get a doll to her. You see Angel Girl is battling Leukemia. She had to be flown to a Seattle, Washington cancer center for treatment. (You notice I try to avoid giving cancer a capital letter...it isn't worthy of a capital letter!)

She is going to be nine years old the first quarter (I THINK) of next year. Her pretty face is bloated from the side effects she is enduring with the treatments. She keeps smiling despite all she goes through. One of her grandmothers gave permission for me to use two recent photos.

She is wearing one of the chemo caps I made her, as her hair is beginning to fall out. Please send prayers her way for a complete healing and a return to her home, and those who love her there., so she can resume the deserved normal life of a child. They'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Vickey

Hi Vickey, just catching up on your posts. How is your break coming along? Your doing a wonderful job on the dolls. I even saw a couple of pieces that looked familiar. Elaine

been using the time to make child size back packs for the church bazaar coming up early in December. I got 5 finished, plus did some crochet stuff and yesterday made two knitted baby preemie caps to give away. Mailed off a halloween costume for a grand daughter in Montana, plus a crocheted blanket and pair of knitted socks for a great grandson due in about 3 or 4 weeks. The mother got gestational diabetes, and it has caused an undesired growth spurt in the baby, so they might have to do a C-section and take it early. Otherwise it was due December 10th.

That is one cute little boy on your profile. Family? cute cute cute
