I am soooo in love with how this turned out, i even sewed the binding on by hand... I got to use ALL 3 of my machines for once.

I even discovered Flange - which by the way is my new best friend LOL...It certainly made a difference in this quilt.

My cousin is going to Boston University in the fall (thats why it is red/black)

Thanks for looking...I can look at it all day LOL

It went from this.....

Every quilt needs someone to love it, i put her initials on it.

really like this, and the touching initials too! Will have to remember this for future quilts. Striking quilt.

Wow! I love Hunters' Star, and you did a fantastic job. The colors really pop. Your cousin will love it, I am sure. Great idea to put intials.

Flange is the red fabric in-between the black border and the binding, i felt it needed something else and the ladies at my LQS explained it to me...basically it is fabric that is 1-1/4 wide, folder in half and put on before the binding goes on...LOVED IT

Flange is the way the binding uses two colors that are rather narrow. If you google flange for quilting you will get lots of info and tutorials.

This quilt is gorgeous!! Love the colors and the flange was a great finishing.
