Default I Spy quilts for grandchildren - finally finished them!

These were two I Spy quilts that I made for two of my grandchildren. They both turned 7 last year, but are from different families. The first quilt took me two years to finish. Partly because I'm new to quilting, and partly because I couldn't seem to get the patches to match up well.

I ended up making a template and painstakingly matching each single piece to it, then using Elmer's glue to glue the pieces together, sewing them together, match to the template again. Took *forever*!

The second one I got cut out and sewn up in about 3 months, thanks to my Fiskars Fuse die cutter machine and Accuquilt go dies. I love that Fuse....speeds things up incredibly.

They are both very cute, your grandchildren are going to love these quilts for years. All of your hard work has paid off nicely.

Those are beautiful I Spy quilts. I have collected novelty fabric to make I Spy quilts for my grandchildren. However, I have been delayed with two hip replacements, and recently I fell, tearing my rotator cuff. I'm awaiting surgery for that on Feb. 27 - so the sewing won't occur for awhile.

Nana, I've been looking for a die cutting machine that will work for fussy-cutting. Did the Fuse allow you to center the design as you wanted it - easily?

Great I Spy quilts! Not a pattern I would have picked for my first couple of quilts but you sure nailed it!
