I aim to please my dear. It was hard to keep from telling you what I was thinking. But, I knew that if anybody could do something with those fabrics, you could. You really did do a terrific job.heheheh!

My DH says that he is gonna send you a whole package full of polka dot fabrics and he wants you to make him a MANLY quilt out of it? Are you up for another test?

Wow! Considering what you had to work with, you did an amazing job.

I was just shaking my head thinking there's NO way I could make those fabrics look good together.
Reminds me of when I used to make garments for people. When they brought fabric and pattern.. often I'd think no way. One man's trash another man's treasure.

You are a genius!!! I don't think anyone could one up you in a contest using the same fabrics as you were directed to use. Great pattern and the quilt that resulted is less ugly than many I've seen. It's not my style and not my colors, but you turned straw into gold. If I ever get you in a swap, I'll be lucky because if you can do that with forsaken fabric, you should swap some really awesome items. Your story made the laughs even better. Thanks for sharing both!!

I could never have done what you did! I have a lot of "odd" fabrics that you could work with!!! Love the "cheese sliding off the cracker"!!!!!!! Never heard it. ))))))

When I had been quilting for about 3 years the local guild had Blanche Young as a speaker. The title of her lecture was: "I Love Ugly Fabric". She made some beautiful quilts from some really ugly fabrics. You did pretty good. If you ever again get some uglies check out some of her designs. I don't think I would have done as well as you did.

It is a great pattern, but I'm with you on the fabric choice. I definitely think you did an amazing job with what you had to work with. I had not heard the cheese and cracker analogy. I laughed so hard tears ran down my leg. Thanks for the chuckles.

You did a great job. I can't help but think your friend doesn't know how precious a quilter's time is.

I'm sitting here truly LOL. I feel the same as you exactly.

But of the fabrics, I DO like the house fabrics...I think you did great with what you had to work with! Congratulations. My eyes would truly be crossed by now!

Like the pattern but I agree with you, the fabrics TOGETHER are butt ugly. You sure did a good job though considering you had to work with a "sow's ear" !!! You are one dedicated friend to take on that challenge.

Your story made me belly laugh! Then I read it aloud to my husband, and we had another laugh. I've learned a lesson from you. I will always insist upon fabric approval if I'm making a quilt for someone else. It would not be fun to work on a project that made my eyes hurt.

I think it's lovely, not my fabric choices either but you did a wonderful job. Just think of it as to what beauty you can create from not so nice fabric. It dances.
