Very pretty. I plan to make one very soon. I don't always match my backing fabric to the quilt. Sometimes I use fabrics I want to use up, that I don't want to use in a top.

I'm liking it much better now, with this pic ... they look like they are all in the same colour family now.

For the original pics ... your quilt top looked more black and teal with the yellow. Whereas the backing looked brown and turquoise.

The one consideration ... that backing would be quite dark ... depends on whether you like that look. Some people do, and some don't! Also, as to how you want the quilting to show ... or not show!

Like someone else said I don't think it has to exactly match but at least have a design in it that somewhat matches. Maybe for the design of your quilt you might try a pretty plaid or something like that.
Never thought of a plaid. That might be really cute. Would a homespun work or should I look for a tighter weave plaid?

Jenni, I love your quilt top. It is beautiful. I also love the backing fabric. The front and back do not necessarily have to match unless you are going to bring the backing to the front for binding. If you like it that is all that matters. Just noticed your yellow fab. I have the same fab and I love it. No wonder I was drawn to your quilt.

I love what you have done!

I like the backing you have chosen and would buy at least 4 yards for that size. I cut mine into two pieces that are 2 yards by 44 inches.... then I sew them back together along the 72 inch side so it ends up 72 x 88....I often also add an extra strip....if you have any leftover rails from the front, that can add a bit of flair to the back too!

I put the dimensions into my fabricalc and it says 4-1/2 yards. I love your quilt. I like the backing when shown in the second pic.

Love this quilt, nice color combination! I think that fabric would be fine for the back. I'm not one that worries about the back matching.

Your backing fabric is beautiful - my favorite colors. I think it would be perfect for backing.
