This is technically my first quilt, although I did take a break to make a baby quilt. It is for my oldest daughter, Kaylee. I plan to make one of the same pattern but different prints for my 2nd dd, Laken. I quilted it completely by hand from start to finish because I thought my first quilt should be the "complete" experience. (I've come to value machine piecing..lol) I finished the quilt the night before her 7th Birthday (that was my goal) Here are some pics:

That is just lovely! And I like how it goes in the room. If you don't mind my asking, did she pick out the wall color and the animal border and the pictures?

They're very cheerful colors and the blue is like a swimming pool.

And the quilt, I have to say, reminds me of some of my favorite candy, Now or Laters. Remember them? They have lucious fruit flavors like banana and strawberry and orange and lemon and lime ... all the flavors of her quilt -- I mean, colors of her quilt!

She loves animals and especially horses, as you can tell by the border. We went shopping for border and she picked it out. We then pulled the wall color out of the border (she loves blues). I also pulled the pink for the curtains from the border, Kaylee picked the shade of pink fabric at Joann's and then I made them (grandma helped...there were lots of ruffles) and her dresser and night stand are yellow (also in the border). So she was definitely the boss of the process.
