Pictures to follow....My question is on the horse fabric to face the back. If I cut the salvage edge off , the patterns won't match up on the pattern. Can I just over lap this and leave it like that? I would like the pattern to match? I don't know what to do......

I think the biggest draw back it will be a little harder to quilt, but is a do-able

I'd make it match and work with it the best I can. I was always told to cut off the selvage but a friend said in her last class she was told to leave it on. Love the applique on the star. Backing is a great choice.

It looks like if you trim off the selvage you won't have enough of a seam allowance to match up the print. In this case I would leave on the seam allowance and match the print. Generally, you remove the seam allowance because it is of a denser, thicker weave that shrinks at a different rate when washed. You might have to iron that seam a little when it comes out of the wash but I could live with that. I say go for it.

I love the idea of keeping it matching, I think it could work...This quilt is going to be beautiful when it's done, I hope you will post pics when you've finished.
