Katrine
For someone who was afraid to start a big project you did a heck of a job! All I can say is WOW!!!
I would go with your first instinct on the quilting, in the ditch on the blocks and meander around the lilacs.

Oh Katrine, that is just drop dead gorgeous!!! I can't wait to see it when it is all quilted...it is spectacular right now! I like your idea of FM blooms in the lilac blocks...you could stop with the stitch in the ditch on the pieced blocks..or you could add a small stipple on the outside of the pieced design and add a small stencil design inside the inner square....or you could add a small crosshatch...or you could just echo stitch around the outside of it... What are you doing in the sashing? Whatever you choose, it will be sooo pretty!

thanks for some ideas Sandpat - was thinking like you for centre of pieced block. I'm going to use a lavender thread in the blossoms block, so maybe I'll contrast with a purple in the pieced. It is a big quilt & I want to keep as easy as possible!

Oh my gosh girl. I absolutely love that quilt. Where did you find the fabric if you don't mind telling me. It really is stunning. Did you come up with the pattern or did you get it somewhere???? Again......beautiful!!!

That is gorgeous. Lilacs are my favorite flower. It's really too bad that I'm allergic to the smell of them. I didn't used to be. I have some growing in my yard and went out and sniffed a smell and had an asthma attack. I wasn't even out more than 5 minutes. Sad but true.
