Default LQS 6 month mystery - step 3 - a matter of value

My local quilt shop is hosting a mystery quilt and we are up to month three of a six month mystery. This one definately had more to do than the last two have. There are 17 of the larger units and 72 of the smaller ones. Here are the first two steps:

In the matter of value: We had to choose a light, medium, and dark fabric - I used some of Moda's Prairie Paisley line. The smaller unit in this pic is supposed to be a HST made with the light and dark fabrics then sewn to a square of the light fabric. However, since the light is a print some pieces of it are reading darker. I ended up having to really pick and choose among the squares I had cut to find ones that contrast with the darker red. Now I'll just have to see how that fits with the rest of the mystery steps.

Barbara - I lay that one out there because it LOOKED like I fussy cut it. I was pretty impressed, but .. it was a random thing and just turned out that way.
