Default Quilted corduroy jacket

Years ago when I was lucky enough to get a huge assortment of 21-wale corduroy remnants at pennies on the dollar, I made quilted bomber jackets for my daughters--one black, one navy and one dark green--using the Heart Warming Jacket pattern by Gail Abeloe. I have wanted one for myself ever since.

With corduroy, you get an interesting effect when you turn the nap in opposite directions. This jacket is made from four slightly different navy remnants. It is three layers--corduroy, flannel and quilting cotton--with poly lining added in the sleeves to make it easy to get on and off.

Making it was a very good reminder of why I don't want to sew clothing anymore. I am SO glad it's finished!

Wow! That is a really nice jacket. Garment sewing never came naturally to me so when I see someone who can sew clothes like this I am in awe :-)

That is so professional looking! You really did a beautiful job with it. Wear it proudly! And congratulations on finally making one for yourself.

That's gorgeous. You do wonderful, professional work & should be very, very proud of the jacket. I wish I could sew like you!

I love that jacket! I used to sew all my own clothes... 40+ years ago. Now I would be afraid to try. But I look at all my quilting cotton and think how nice some of those pieces would look in a blouse...

I love corduroy and used to live near Crompton Corduroy where I could buy remnants directly from the plant in Virginia. You wouldn't believe how much of the stuff I wore growing up!
