My batik stash is mostly FQs with a few 1/2 yd cuts, but after getting into this, I realized I should have had more softer color batiks, and a couple very light neutrals. Still, I'm happy how it came out. I think the sashings and borders are pretty simple, too, but I only have a limited amount of the correct fabrics, which were expensive, and I really don't want to waste them. I have never done anything without a pattern, so for another $12.00 I'll get the pattern, considering how much I already have invested. I am also going to buy the finishing embellishment packets which run around $2.00-4.00 each. Please post a photo of yours! I also want to practice my FMQ before tackling this, but am also toying with the ideal of having a professional do it if I don't think I can do it justice.

Lovely and great fabric selection. I've done one small McKenna Ryan but have two large ones to do, so good to know you found it not too challenging. As for sashing, I'd think you could make it a width/fabric you like to offset the blocks without a pattern. McKenna's website might be a source for ideas.
