The best combo on these I have found is flannel front and back with wool wadding... sooo light, sooo warm and yet not over warm and very very snuggly.

the snippers are a great investment if you like these.

I always use the stretch stich on my machine when joing the quilted blocks.

I just dyed a bunch of flannel in indigo in varying shades and have planned a raggy quilt to use it all up. I think I am going to quilt some motifs, hearts or something in the blocks rather than cris crossing.

The more you wash these the softer they get but only wash them on thier own. They shed especially on the first wash like crazy. It's worth cleaning out the lint trap on the drier midway through the cycle.

Lovely quilt and a great QAYG method.

They are so cuddly and so cool. But isn't it great when you sew the last row, you are done quilting it too.

Thanks for this idea. I have a lot of batting bits stuffed into a box. This will be the perfect way to get rid of...sorry, perfect way to make something lovely with them. I have a bunch of small white pieces of this and that, they will make a real nice bed for Fredrica, who is a white, long haired Persian and sheds like mad.

I have made several for my great grand kids and they love them and I love making them. So easy to do, and easy to hide mistakes.

Yummy colors. The baby quilts I have made for the last 5 or 6 yrs. have all been rag quilts..I don't use batt in the middle, I use a white or coordinating flannel square instead.

Very nice - These quilts are especially snuggly! As I sorted my batting scraps last night, I was thinking of doing one of these - thanks for sharing!
