Thank you all for your kind comments! These quilts were a labor of love and the odd little extras just sort of happened. If my quilt gives ideas for your own project, then that's a great thing! One thing to keep in mind when sewing these, is that you must always keep them in subdued light. No matter how careful you are, no matter the quality of fabric and inks, they WILL FADE WITH TIME in sunlight. So I passed that information to my siblings.

What a loving memory of your Mom. Your brother will cherish this beautiful quilt. You are a wonderful sister to give your family such a heartfelt gift.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I definitely think your brother and sister will love them! My baby brother is getting married next July. I was thinking about doing a similar quilt with pictures of his fiance and him through the years. Is it fairly easy to print pictures and use them on your fabric?

It is a bit time consuming, but not difficult! You either have to treat your own fabric or buy sheets already prepared. It can take longer to scan photos and decide sizes and such and what you want to do that to actually do it! LOL! To get my collage effect, I placed letters, pictures, etc on my scanner and scanned them in...it was pretty cool to print out fabric with my designs on it...here's one site for you to look at...http://www.cjenkinscompany.com/

I figured it would be a good "Winter" project. Specially if Southwest Virginia has winter this year like last year. LOL! Did you just use a regular photo program?
