Probably most everyone has heard of this campaign to make just one star to be sewn into a quilt for veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. I am the daughter of a career Marine who was himself a WWII and Vietnam vet. There's a special place in my heart for soldiers.

This went together so quick and easy. If you haven't done one, I encourage you to do so. You can find the info at:

http://www.unitednotions.com/LA_just_one_star.pdf

It looks dark in this picture! It's actually more cream colored.

It's great. I'm without power right now due to a big storm (I have a small generator) and will get some made next week when life returned to normal around here.

I've done 8 so far. One for each family member who served in the military. As soon as I find a brown pen I can finish them and get them sent off.

I've seen those Pigma pens at Michael's. But I got a set from Amazon. They're great for tracing embroidery designs.

My husband was a Marine in the Korean War. He was wounded and received a purple heart and several different service medals. I love the idea of making the quilts for service men. I made 3 blocks yesterday and 2 today. I'll try to get them in the mail tomorrow.
