I would be more than happy to sit down and work with anyone of any age, show them what I have learned, but I don't think I know enough to call it teaching

If you can do that by hand there is no improvement necessary.

Beautiful work. I also love the fabrics you used. I am impressed that anyone can do this kind of work when it is their first time. Congratualtions.

I,too, am doing my first applique block. After ripping out a couple of seams here and there, it's starting to click. I think yours' look great and I can already see improvement in mine.

I will bet yours look better than you think!
I think mine look much like the drawings children do with the fat crayons, but am hoping to improve with each block.

I mainly looked at the fabric you used. In the first photo, I don't think you could have chosen a more beautiful fabric. It gave such depth and dimension . I don't know for sure but it looks like on the first couple of blocks that you painted a small shadow on the backing. I love that. I take my fabric wet it and also dilute fabric paint to give me a nice background. White is a harsh background and doesn't make your applique look as good as a very light slightly mottled fabric. The exception to that is pure crayon colors like you find in the box of 8.

I think you are doing very well on your applique. The only thing that can improve our work is practice. And you have to remember we are our own worst critic.

I wish I could take credit for the lovely shadow, but it really is just a shadow.. no painting or coloring was done to any of the blocks... I couldn't paint my way out of a wet paper bag so to speak
