I like it. Finish it and start on your next one. Walmart fabric comes from the same mills a lot of the other fabric comes from. I used it a lot before they downsized the sewing departments. If you look on the ends of the bolts, they are the same. There are higher quality fabrics out there, but I can't afford them very often. In fact, I get most of my fabric at the Goodwill, garage sales and off of Craigslist. I have even been able to get some nice pieces for free.

The cutting edge help is that you put the vinyl strips on the bottom of the ruler at the appropriate place, then slide the ruler up to the fabric. It helps ensure that the ruler is where you want it. The creator, Marci Baker, also showed my group how to put one at the top edge, so you only have to check the bottom rule to make sure you are square on the fabric. She gave us each 2 strips, but I was using someone else's ruler and mine did not come home with me :cry: So now I need to order some.

I think it's very good for a first quilt. all of us have used the first one as a learning experience and I think you have started of really well. You should see all the mistakes I made on my first one. better that you don't. keep going.

For a first quilt, you did great! Directional prints are hard to work with - they're not usually printed too straight...
Best pieces of advice...
Practice... Don't be so hard on yourself...
... and... any time you have a question, post it here.
I'm sure we've all done whatever jam it is and have gotten ourselves out, too. :D
