Default My "Antique" Reproduction Quilt Top

Picture and advice.
Does it need another border?
I coffee/tea stained the muslin sashings to get the antique look. If You were to choose to tie this quilt rather than quilt it, how would YOU go about it?

Sorry about the pics, camera has decided things need to look yellow outdoors and wind was not cooperating.

Here sitting on my bed, looks confusing with my NYB underneath.

Terrific pinwheels! Like the New York Beauty on the bed too!

This is a classic pattern and you have done great with the colors, sashing, and corner stones. If I were tying it I would use crochet thread doubled and tied with a square knot. I would space the ties about 4 inches apart or spacing that goes with your batting and the quilt pattern. Love this top, good job

very pretty! I don't think it needs another border, unless you just want it bigger. I always use embroidery floss for tying, and use a square knot. With your quilt I would probably tie on each corner of your pinwheels and then maybe the center of the pinwheel. It is going to be absolutely beautiful!

If my batting would permit it, I would tie at the center of each pinwheel and in all four corners of the blocks. For the sashing, I would do the center of each cornerstone. If I needed more in the sashing, I would try for the center of each rectangle.

I used perl cotton on the quilt I tied and it was easy to work with. I cut them long so I could trim them a bit after I washed the quilt. There really was much less fraying on the ties than I expected.

I love the quilt. I'm a sucker for all the "antiques."

Oh, that photo of it hanging on the line outdoors is gorgeous! The tea stained sashing and red cornerstones really make it pop! I don't think you need another border either.

Love it so very nicely done. I would love to see it quilted rather then tied...but that is just me.

I don't anything about tying a quilt, so I can't help there, but I think it is lovely just as it is. I wouldn't add a border unless you need it bigger. You did a wonderful job on it.

I'd time in the centers and corners of the pinwheels.
