i went to a quilt show today in a small town nearby. it was held in a 100 yr old church. a lovely venue. i will post a few of the best pics i took. hope you all enjoy. these first 3 pics were part of the bed turning.

Those ARE gorgeous, please help an ignorant mind......what do you mean by the phrase 'bed turning', what tradition is it????

Awwwwww, Grandmothers Garden is my Favorite. But awsom, beautiful Quilts. Wow, a 100 yr ole church, that alone I would of loved to enter and see. I also would like to know what is the bed turning?

a bed turning is when several quilts are layered on a bed, in this case it was a beautiful antique 4 poster bed. one at a time the quilts are taken away to reveal the one below. we discussed each quilt as it was removed.
it is so nice to see the quilts on a bed. after all thats the way they were meant to be seen. right?
several of the quilts were very old and we discussed the era and in many cases we all speculated about the age because in the old days nobody signed their quilts.
it was the highlight of the quilt show.
