This picture was taken in the Spring of 1991 when my oldest daughter, Meagan, was just under 1 year old. The quilt she's sitting on was made by my wife's grandmother back in the 1930s or 1940s. An unusual pattern in the quilt which I've never seen before. The dress she's wearing was my wife's baby dress and was made in 1964 by her mother when she was expecting my wife, Melissa. So, indirectly, there are 4 generations represented in the photo.

I love these generational things! I love the design.
I've never seen that one either.
Your daughter must be almost twenty,
and I bet she's still just as pretty! :D

Love the picture Eddie! Great story to go with the quilt and a great memento from your daughter's childhood! Love the generational connection.

Cute baby! I bet she would kill you for showing her picture at her age. LOL! Kids...
I love your quilt and the baby dress. The dress especially. Very beautiful hand work there.

The block looks like a flower spin off from a dresden plate. What do you think? Maybe english paper pieced?? That was popular in those days. They used the newspaper to cut the templets and sewed them together with the paper still attached.

Those little feet! Love it! This is a cute picture and so special.

Quilting runs in the blood in your family, huh? Your daughter gets it from both sides- does she quilt/want to?

What a precious picture and what a history that goes with it.

I believe the pattern is Englished Paper Piecing (EPP) and is called chrysanthemums. If you go to www.paperpieces.com you can see all the shapes available for EPP.

I have made a very similar block to that, that was called Missouri Daisy, and it had another name I cannot think of at this point.
