They are 12" blocks. That is what makes it sooo easy and quick to put together. I made hers (the top) in a day and half!

quiltmaker101.
I am also doing a black and white sampler quilt pattern, which will be trimmed in some red around the blocks. My youngest daughter saw it and fell in love with it and she is wanting me to give it to her for christmas....Our guild is all making a black and white quilt for our BOM. Everyone's pattern is different....all is very pretty...we show our blocks every month at our meeting.
I love your pattern, I have never heard of "three bean salad" before, but I love the way it looks...you have done a great job and it is very pretty, your daughter needs to show it off, though...

Quiltmaker101,
do you remember the book number and year? If I can't find it, would you mind scanning the pattern and sending it to me? I will send you my email address if you don't mind.
Thanks in advance.

What a pretty quilt! I'm not a black and white color person, but I do truly admire it when someone makes a quilt like the one you made. Bobbie

The pattern Three Bean Salad comes from the book Wild About Flowers. You can probably still get it from Amazon.com or Ebay.

I bought mine at Walmart, when they still sold quilt books, but we all know that story.... don't go there!

Anyway, I love all the Leisure Arts quilt books. Every one I have seen I have ended up buying because the quilts are soooo pretty!

Omgosh that black and white is to die for quiltmaker! It's really stunning.

You might want to advise you dd to take it out of the plastic she has it stored in though. From all I've ever heard and read, plastic is the last thing we should store our quilts (or even our fabric) in due to moisture concerns and mold. She could wrap it up in a cotton sheet if she insists on keeping it stored. I think she needs to show that baby off though. Truly gorgeous!!!

Thanks again for all the compliments. I am finishing another quilt with the 3 bean blocks and solid blocks alternating. This one will be REALLY colorful. I call it "Salsa and Guacamole" It is green, orange and red with chili peppers on red as the solid block fabric.

Will be trying my hand at applique for the first time. I hand cut chili pepper shapes for the centers of half the pieced blocks.

I will post a picture of it when finished!

PS I love www.5bucksayard.com !!! They have the best quality fabrics at really good prices! That's where I found the red chili pepper fabric (3.99 yard) and it is perfect to finish my quilt! "Salsa and Guacamole" was a UFO until I found the chili peppers online. :D
