I've been reading and oogling over so many Dear Janes in progress.....really beautiful work out there!!

I started on these a couple of months back and selected ones that could be appliqued since we were going to be on a boat for a month with no access to a sewing machine.

A VERY loooooong way to go, but it's a start. I've purposely not trimmed the blocks to size yet to avoid fraying. Thanks for looking!

It's beautiful. I bought the book, but figured this will be a long term project. I like the idea of applique instead of sewing all those tiny pieces. Thanks for the tip and for sharing your progress.

Are the patterns in the book or do you have to buy the software? What format is the software in? Do you have to have EQ or is it in another format?

I only have the book and there is an actual-size diagram for each block. I make a copy of the diagrams to use for patterns.

There are no assembly instructions in the book but someone on the Board recently mentioned a website that has awesome instructions: www.thatquilt.blogspot.com. The Dear Jane website....www.dearjane.com.....also has instructions for each block. Some folks on the Board have a Dear Jane CD but I have no idea if it's helpful or not. Many thanks for your comments! Karen
