I'm getting ready to do a heirloom quilt pattern. It consist of using a wing needle in the outer part of design/one color & a embroidery needle in the inter design using rose buds & leaves. I putting it on linen what would you use for sashing & borders.

I don't have a specific pattern. To make the plates, I used this ruler http://www.amazon.com/Dresden-Darlen.../dp/B003W0J9WK. I made the plates, laid one on fabric and decided I wanted 1" bigger for the backing (now I'd do it no less than 2" bigger). I did 3" sashing....and the corner stones are little squares (handstitched - OMG) that measure 3" square when done.

Have fun!

If you're putting it on linen, then I'd suggest linen for the sashing and borders. I've not done anything on linen before -- so others might have a different idea. Why don't you start a thread and ask...you'll get LOTS of help!!!!
