Default Retirement quilt for our minister.

This quilt was for our minister and his wife on their retirement last year. It is a disappearing 9 patch and I had intended doing a scalloped edge but suddenly was afraid I would mess it up, so it just has a wide border. The second picture is the back where I embroidered a message very discreetly on the wide binding and appliqued a few leaves. The quilt toned in well with their family room and was well received. Libby Goldsworthy most appropriately quilted roses on the quilt for me. I will attempt a scalloped edge on another quilt one day when I feel a little braver! I didn't start making the quilt till the month before they retired so didn't have a lot of time to experiment. Thanks for looking!

What a lovely quilt. I'm sure they will treasure it. How nice of you to make the quilt for them.
