Default My first large quilt

I consider myself a beginner when it comes to quilting, and this is my first quilt bigger than a table topper. It is about 60"x80". I fell in love with this fabric about 6 years ago in the City Quilter in NYC and just had to have it. It is very much like batiq and has gold crackle on top. I was scared to use the fabric because I did not want to screw it up. But in the end I realised, so what if I screw it up. It is just fabric, not the end of the world, and it is MY quilt. So what if it is not perfect? So I plunged into it and I am very happy I did. I wanted to showcase the fabric so I did minimum cutting and decided to go with simple QID. This was a big time confidence booster for me.

Welcome to the wonderful world of quilters. This certainly won't be your last. Beautiful colors and fabric. Great job. You just have to jump right in and go where the road takes you. Can't wait to see your next one. I like this fabric, too.

That is beautiful. You are so right about getting it out and using it. I love the way you used the strips of color in the binding. What a nice touch.
