I bought this machine at a garage sale. Asking was $40 and I offered $30 because I was really looking for a 1964 version like the one I received as a HS graduation present from my grandmother. This one is very close to it. It's a Singer Fashion Mate 237 . I looked it up on the internet and they were made in the late 60's. The lady said she was married in 1967 and bought it new shortly after that. She doesn't like to sew and just used it for mending. It works great and the buttonholer attachment has never used.

Yea, great find, enjoy sewing on this. I found a 401 at thrift store last week and love it. You got some great attachments.

This was my first "very own" machine that I bought shortly after I got married. It served me well until I graduated to one with a few more stitches and features.

Very nice! I have a Singer Touch n Sew (I believe was made in the mid '60s) and it has exactly the same cabinet. My daughter scratched her name in the front edge of it when she was 11. I've left her name there! Love my old Singer, use it constantly.

I have a Singer that my grandmother bought in 1964, also the year I graduated high school. Funny, I always thought of it as her "new" sewing machine, but the receipt was still in the machine when she died. It was well-used. When I was 4, she let me sew my first thing--a doll dress on a pedal Singer. Wish I had that!
