Thanks for all your wonderful comments. I don't know where the original pattern came from. The LQS had a queen size quilt in the shop and asked me to see if I could come up with a class to teach it. The quilt was lovely...... and I traced off the pattern and worked on making up a class. I made up 2 blocks but the interest in it had wained and the class got canceled. So, I decided to make up 2 more blocks and use them for this quilt. I have seen other butterfly quilts that are similar..... maybe someone else knows its true beginning.
