Right you are!!! I would have been shorter ...I had to keep on trimming the frayed threads. I'm working on another that is on the original format but I'm afraid of losing the seam to the frayed edges so I'm going to serge over the seams. I will feel better knowing the seam or whatever is left of it will be encased. These jellyrolls I'm working with were very inexpensive compared to the better quality higher end ones and the frayed edges showed that. Now that I think about it serging would be the berrer way to go with this type of quilt. The only pieces I would do by regular machine would be joining the little squares. By Golly I'll get it right yet. I'm going to give thiese two quilts to members of my family. I will pick their names out of a jar. That makes it easy on me. Anne

Love your quilt - but not sure what you mean re. "cleaning up the sides" ? as in fraying ?
I've never had a problem with a jelly roll fraying ...

No, IMHO there is NO need to wash jelly roll strips, or any kind of precut ...
Unless you just have to, then wet them and hang them to dry ... if you wash them in the machine like yardage, you'll have nothing left but a twisted mess :(

Okay, don't wash the strips so, I should get extra just in case they shrink. Will do. I am glad I asked before making my first precut strips quilt. :)

Hi, I purchased some jelly rolls from a chain store and the quality was not that great and sides were not pinked as most of the higher end manufacturers jellyrolls are ...and because the strips when sewn together get handled quite a bit they frayed terribly. Anne
