Hi, butterflywing. I made this quilt for my oldest granddaughter's 12th birthday. Last fall I had made a quilt for my youngest granddaughter (7 yrs old) who was undergoing back surgery. After seeing the new quilt for her sister, my 11 year old granddaughter told her mom that it had been a long time since I had made her a quilt. I took that as my que that she was in "need" of a new quilt. :) Her mom thought using her school colors would be the best since she has been on their jump rope team for several years. She wanted it to be soft and her mom suggested flannel. However, I couldn't find any kelly green flannel anywhere online or in stores. So, I opted for mixing textures and fabrics. The backing is out of the kelly green fleece. It was challenging but fun and she was so, so pleased. Thanks for asking. :)
