Default My latest obsession

Hi all

I’ve been stuck on making these very useful project bags. I’m addicted. I keep making them different sizes. Found directions on Youtube by Flosstube.

Thanks for looking!

I can see where you'd like a lot of these around the house!

Very nice. I could use some of those. Guess I'll go look it up on YouTube. Is #37 the right one? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhGnA_HrXSA

Edited to add: I think PB yours looks more like #40. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgKkInH-8bs

How clever! They would be great for gifts. Very good "obsession."

Here are the printed instructions:

On YouTube....MakingLifeCount...project bag...floss tube

This will make 2 bags:

1/2 yd outer fabric
1/3 yd lining fabric
1/3 clear vinyl. ..medium weight..
1/3 fusible fleece...we used pellon 987F
(2) 14 inch zippers
Wonder tape

Cut for (1) bag:

13 x 11 1/4....lining fabric and fusible fleece

13 x 9 3/4 .....vinyl

15 1/4 x 13 3/4.....outer fabic...take note if fabric is directional width is 15 1/4....

Cut (2 strips) 2 x 13 ....outer fabric

Steps:

1. Fuse the fleece to wrong side of the lining fabric

2. Fold under and press 1/2 inch on all four sides of the outer fabric

3. Fold under 1/2 inch on top and bottom of each strip of the outer fabric (2 x 13 strips). Press to make two 1 x 13 inch strips

4. Sandwich vinyl between the 2 strips about 1/2 inch in.....use wonder tape (you can buy at joanns ...quilting notions) on both sides to attach vinyl to the strips. Then sew a 1/4 seam.

5. Sandwich the zipper into the top of the 2 strips. Sew in place with the zipper pull on the right. Note...where the zipper actually opens place 1/2 inch from edge.

6. Lay the vinyl/zipper on top of the lining/fleece. Sew along the top edge using thread to match the zipper. Then sew a small seam around the 3 remaining edges (1/8 seam). Trim/square up any uneven edges at this point. Note - I back tacked over the zipper ends....when you square up cut off excess zipper edges.

7. Center the vinyl/lining piece on top of the outer fabric. Fold over the top and bottom and sew a 1/4 inch seam. A walking foot is helpful at this step.

8. Miter the corners (review Ollie's attached pdf) and sew the 2 sides.
