My little girl has Autism and was terrified of the sewing machine. I had bought her a tiny Barbie sewing machine last year, but she was afraid of it. Today she took it out and said mom can we sew today. I ran to my stash and pulled out and cut a small square for a pillow. The first 3 side were not pinned, I just helped hold as she sewed around. She turned it and stuffed it herself. The 3 pins on the end almost ended her sewing, but she overcame to sew the end shut. If you know anything about Autism, then you know my little girl climbed a mountain today (fear of sounds and fear of sharp things)

This is absolutely inspiring. I'm so proud of your little girl, and you are a terrific mother for encouraging her! I'm sure she'll treasure that pillow for years to come.

Fantastic!

I can tell you are so proud of her!

This was a huge obstacle she overcame and did a wonderful job at it. You both should be proud!

Here's to more sewing and reaching the top of more mountains.

HUGS!

Absolutely beautiful! What a GIANT step that was! My grandson has Asperger's syndrome (mild form of autism). He has had a lot of social problems and fine motor movement impairment. He's almost 18 now and working on his GED (school was not working with him). I hope your little girl will continue to make those giant steps. Autistic children are often very talented and very smart in particular areas.
Thanks for sharing this with us!

She is a doll and I am so proud of her. It is a big step. I worked with an autistic young man and there were some things that were so hard for him to try. We all cheered each time he overcame a hurdle. Her pillow is wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
